Blanc de Blancs Special Club Premier Cru 2015 originates from several different Villers-Marmery plots; Allouettes, Grands Arbres and Champs d’Enfer. 27% of the blend is fermented in oak barrels, underwent no malo-lactic and is aged a minimum of 66 months on fine lees. It has an gorgeous nose showing ripe Meyer lemon preserves, honey, butter pastry and a whiff of toast. The light to medium-bodied palate is rich with a tight-knit mousse and nervy acidity that brightens up lemon cream flavors on the mid-palate, then finishes long with a hint of smoke. It is a refreshing and opulent Brut style of champagne with eight grams per liter dosage. The bottle tasted was disgorged July 2023. Lot: 150723 D20 - Sarah Mayo, Wine Independent
The 2015 Brut Spécial Club is 100% Chardonnay from three Premier Cru lieux-dits in Villers-Marmery. Soft, open-knit and expressive, the 2015 offers hints of pear, apricot, white flowers and spice. A touch of barrel fermentation and a slightly higher dosage of 8 grams per liter work well here in taming some of the more austere characters that run through most of these Champagnes. This is a fine effort for the year. Disgorged: January, 2023-Anotnio Galloni, Vinous Media
