Drawing its fruit from Treiso, the Ada Nada 2016 Barbaresco Valeirano shows beautiful purity with many aromatic high tones. Red cherry is followed by blue flower, crushed stone, spice and grilled herb. I also notice a very pretty menthol or balsamic aroma that gives lift and intensity to the bouquet. There's a touch of crushed limestone minerality too. From a classic vintage, the Valeirano offers a streamlined body, elegant tannins and lots of specific flavor detailing. Treiso. Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Like opening a spice cupboard. More spicy than fruity on the nose. Intense and aromatic cherry fruit palate with a core of chewy tannins and supple acidity on the finish. Very long but needs to open up further. (WS)--Jancis Robinson
