Tasting note: Here the wood treatment is a bit more obvious with its hints of menthol suffusing the ripe and exotic dried yellow fruit aromas. There is good intensity to the delicious and nicely detailed medium weight flavors that are not super-dense but do offering excellent length on the mildly warm finale. This should repay at least 5 to 8 years of cellaring. Outstanding. Allen Meadows, Burghound
This wine has still to finish its malolactic fermentation, and so has not been sulphured. Pale primrose, apple notes as part of a currently oxidative nose. Sweeter fruit on the palate. Hard to taste today, but there is a wealth of deep white fruit with a yellower tint. Excellent depth of fruit at the finish. Given its current state I have decided not to attach a rating, but note the promise shown. Tasted: October 2020 October 2020—Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
- The @ballotmillot 2019 1er Cru Morgeot Tête de Clos lights up the senses while checking off all of the boxes for classic Chassagne-Montrachet satisfaction. It's slightly exotic and rich on the nose, perfectly contrasted by crushed stone mineral tones and lemon-spiked green apples. The textures are other-worldly, almost oily at times, balanced by stimulating tropical citrus that is sometimes savory and sometimes sweet. The Tête de Clos tapers off spicy with a salty flourish and a riveting lime-tinge, showing ample weight that lingers and slowly melts away from the palate. While I wish I waited a little longer, I'm also so happy that I opened this gorgeous wine tonight.--Eric Guido
