A racy and refined Bellefont with stone, chalk and salty character. Wet earth and green olives, too. Medium to full body with a core of pretty fruit and solid tannins that are fine and polished.- James Suckling
Spared by the April frosts, the 2021 Bellefont Belcier has turned out brilliantly, exhibiting aromas of sweet berries and cherries mingled with hints of orange zest and violets, framed by a deft touch of oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, it's deep and elegant, with refined tannins, fine concentration and a penetrating finish. Impressively, this 2021 appears to surpass the estate's 2018 in quality! - William Kelley, Wine Advocate
Takes its time, not pushing too hard, attractive construction that is gentle but with depth, coiled raspberry and redcurrant fruit that you can see will offer juicy drinking within a few years of bottling. Definitely works with the vintage not against it, and is successful. - Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
The 2021 Bellefont Belcier is a sensual, beguiling Saint-Émilion built on expressive aromatics and nuance more than power. Sweet tobacco, spice, leather, crushed flowers, rose petal, mint and blood orange are all beautifully lifted. Polished, silky tannins wrap it all together. This is beautifully done. Even so, my impression is of a wine that is in transition, rather than a wine with a fully defined style. The open bouquet leads me to believe the 2021 may be more of a medium-term proposition. Tasted three times. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
The 2021 Bellefont-Belcier has a strong licorice scent on the nose that is a little too "vocal" for my liking, though it displays decent delineation. A second bottle feels volatile and finally a third—more composed! The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, finely tuned with moderate depth. It feels a little attenuated on the finish but, given the clarity, it should drink well for up to 15 years. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
