From a large parcel of old vines east of the village, with 20% whole clusters in the fermentation - which is done in concrete - plus a gentle combination of punching down and pumping over. The wine is aged in cask (20% new) for 15 months to yield a perfumed and elegant result, with haunting aromas of ripe red fruits and fresh flowers. The texture is silky, a bit soft and very fine, with a lingering, ethereal finish. Drinking Window 2021 – 2029 Charles Curtis MW, Decanter.
The 2019 Fixin Village comes from a foudre, completely de-stemmed and was filtered two days prior to my visit as Amelie Berthaut finds the turbidity quite high. Nevertheless, it has a very elegant bouquet with a mix of well-defined red fruit and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite fleshy in style but beautifully balanced with more than enough tension on the finish. Delightful. -Neal Martin, Vinous Media
