The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Combe de Dessus has a well defined bouquet. The 1O% stems lend just a very slight pepperiness, hints of dried blood emerge with time and complement the dark berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins This is very harmonious and silky, the 20% new oak is seamlessly integrated with a persistent finish. This will be very seductive in its youth - a beautifully crafted Gevrey. -Neal Martin, Vinous Media
Outstanding. Once again there is excellent freshness to the very pretty mix of upper and lower register pinot fruit with pungent earth, humus and subtle floral wisps. The succulent and again utterly delicious medium weight flavors possess lovely definition while delivering excellent length on the markedly firm and youthfully austere finale. This is a relatively big Gevrey villages that will require at least a decade of aging to be at its best. Lovely. - Allen Meadows, Burghound
Located below the Château, the Gevrey-Chambertin Combe du Dessus shows a very dense almost black colour with the same slightly tarry nose as the first two Fixins. Notably intense on the palate, a ripe dark red fruit, some peach skins in there as well, this pushes the limits of balanced ripeness. - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
