Critic Scores, Reviews & Descriptions
Plenty of depth and impressive black fruit aromatics. Silky in texture, with fruits that are concentrated and almost dried, some clear fig and almost raisin notes alongside black pepper spice and a nice twist of lime tang on the finish. Clear personality, but lacks some juice through the palate. There is a good sense of pep on the finish though, and it's clear that the Malbec is playing an oversized role in the blend. 40% new oak. - Jane Anson, Decanter
Round-tannined sample with plushness and softness and plenty of blueberry and blackberry character. Some pine needle and hints of fresh herbs. - James Suckling
A blend of 61% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Malbec, the 2020 Bouscaut has a deep purple-black color and notes of warm cassis, stewed black plums and black cherry pie, followed by hints of tar, licorice and Indian spices. The medium to full-bodied palate is filled with juicy black fruits and ripe, rounded tannins, backed up by a lively backbone, finishing long and spicy. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate
The 2020 Bouscaut is still missing some complexity on the nose, blackberry and light bilberry scents, quite saline yet it needs more precision. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and well judged acidity. Fresh and balanced, this conveys sufficient tension with a dash of cracked black pepper and graphite on the finish. Maybe it lacks a bit of charm, but it should age nicely in bottle. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
