The 2021 Branas Grand Poujeaux was picked from September 29 to October 13 at 38hL/ha and includes some whole-cluster addition; it was matured in 50% new oak. The well defined bouquet features blackberry, raspberry, white pepper and a hint of undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with a spicy entry and gentle grip, the whole bunch working well here, and quite saline on the finish. Excellent. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
Perfumed blackcurrants and hints of dark chocolate powder on the nose. Beautiful silky texture, smooth and satisfying. A delicious balance of just-crunchy fruit with fine yet plump tannins giving a round mouthful. Cooling elements come in on the mid palate, alongside liquorice, clove, cedar and mint working to give frame, spice and freshness. Acidity is well balanced and this has lots of energy to it. A success in 2021 - a wine with mass appeal. - Georgina Hindle, Decanter
The 2021 Branas Grand Poujeaux is a strong effort from this small Moulis property, offering up aromas of plums, dark berries and pencil shavings, framed by nicely integrated new oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and fleshy, with solid depth at the core, powdery tannins and lively balancing acids, it's a sleeper of the vintage that's well worth seeking out. -William Kelley, Wine Advocate
