The 2016 Beaune Clos du Roi 1er Cru has a generous bouquet with warm summer fruit, and touches of gravel. It is just a bit smudged around the edges perhaps indicative of a higher fermentation temperature? The palate is rounded and plush on the entry, caressing in texture with pure red berry fruit laced with black tea and a splash of balsamic towards the focused finish.
