Compared to the Ovello cru, the 2015 Barbaresco Gallina (with only 2,000 bottles made) offers a bit more power and intensity. This wine is solid and dense at its core, with clearly recognizable black fruit, spice and crushed stone. The warmth of the vintage has also left its mark with beautiful aromas that recall truffle or tilled earth. The wine hits the palate with firmness, bright acidity and freshness. In all, it shows terrific balance, intensity and length. - Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate
Menthol, fragrant purple flower and red berry aromas mingle with whiffs of dark spice. Precise and elegantly structured, the youthfully firm, fresh palate offers cranberry, Morello cherry and star anise framed in taut, polished tannins. It closes on a cool note of dried mint. Drink 2021–2029. - Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast
The 2015 Barbaresco Gallina is soft, supple and caressing, as wines from this site tend to be. Succulent dark cherry, plum, spice, smoke, new leather, menthol and dried herbs all grace the palate in this plush, radiant Barbaresco from Cantina del Pino. Pliant and inviting for a young wine, the Gallina is also the most accessible of the 2015 Barbarescos. This is such a great expression of Gallina.
