Plenty of black olives and purple fruit on the nose, together with slate and mushrooms. Very aromatic. Medium to full body. Firm tannins with finesse and focus and a long, driven finish. Already lovely structure and polish to this old-vine, pure merlot. - James Suckling

The 2022 Prima from Chateau Carignan is 100% Merlot. It has a deep garnet-purple color and slowly emerges from the glass with fragrant notions of raspberry coulis, black cherry compote, and rose oil, followed by suggestions of cinnamon stick, fallen leaves, and jasmine tea. The full-bodied palate is taut with intense, muscular black and red fruit layers, supported by firm, ripe tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing with great length. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent
