Brilliant ruby. Pungent dark berry, cherry and licorice scents are sharpened by peppery spice and mocha flourishes. Fleshy blueberry and bitter cherry flavors slowly gain sweetness in the glass and pick up a smoky nuance on the back half. Unwinds steadily with air and finishes smooth and long, displaying gentle sweetness and rounded tannins.
Dark fruit here. Attractive blackberry and mocha aromas and a gray, stony mineral thread. Smooth and elegant palate with creamy, rich, berry flavors and a smoky finish. Drink now. - James Suckling
Aged only in concrete, the 2016 Crozes Hermitage la Petite Ruche is a supple, creamy-textured offering that should be consumed over the next 4-5 years for its blueberry and blackberry fruit. Hints of tar and black olive add some savory complexity to this medium to full-bodied wine. JC – The Wine Advocate
