Tasting note: Aromas of poached plum, spice warm earth and a floral top note introduce rich and seductively textured flavors that are at once caressing yet powerful while coating the palate with sappy dry extract that also buffers the moderately austere and decidedly firm finale. This fine effort has excellent development potential and is a wine that's also going to need at least 6 to 8 years of keeping before it will be reasonably approachable. Sweet Spot. Outstanding. –Allen Meadows, Burghound
Dark hued and brooding, this red reveals blackberry, plum, earth, iron and oak spice flavors. Backed by dense, almost gritty tannins and lively acidity, leaving a tactile feel on the long finish. Be patient. Best from 2025 through 2039. —B.S., Wine Spectator
The vines were pruned short and green harvested to the extent that they delivered only 20 hl/ha. Not racked yet. Dense purple colour here. Rich cooked cherry, almost too much and the acidity comes out behind. A big boy, but it remains to be seen whether the heat effect will dissipate sufficiently. Tasted: October 2020—Jasper Morris, Burghound
