Made with 55% whole bunch vinification, 65% new oak. Dense black centre with purple rim. There is a suggestion of an immense wealth of fruit here, though the detail is still to come. The depth though is spectacular. More dark fruit than red, but as ever both are in the equation. That little touch of wildness. Some very dark strawberries, and not quite a sensual finish but generous with very silky tannins. 13.8% alcohol and the best acidity of the three wines. Tasted: November 2021—Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
A towering achievement. The new vintage of Clos de Tart demonstrates the nobility of this terroir with its immense depth of flavour, profoundly ripe red and black fruit, exotic spice, earthy elements and a saline/mineral touch. The texture is dense and firm, yet it is almost palpably voluptuous and still enlivened by a lovely freshness. There is definitely a touch of oak, but not enough to cover up the beauty of the wine. Lovely and special.—Charles Curtis MW, Decanter
Note: from vines that average around 60+ years of age; <50% whole clusters and 65% new wood
Tasting note: Here the more reticent nose is also marked floral in character with its ripe aromas of plum, cassis, black raspberry and plethora of spice nuances. There is excellent size, weight and mid-palate concentration along with almost painful intensity to the big-bodied flavors that brim with sappy dry extract that helps to buffer the very firm tannins shaping the balanced and hugely long finale. This is excellent though note well that this beauty is going to require extended patience. Don’t Miss.—Allen Meadows, Burghound
