Lots of blackberry and walnut with some spice and grilled meat. It’s medium-bodied with firm, creamy tannins and a flavorful finish. Lovely ripe fruit in the center palate. - James Suckling
Loads of tobacco, jalapeño, and red and blue fruits emerge from the 2020 Clos Marsalette. This beauty is medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a balanced, elegant texture, building, ripe tannins, and the wonderful purity and freshness that are the hallmarks of this vintage. Given its purity, balance, and solid underlying structure, it will benefit from 2-5 years of bottle age and have two decades of prime drinking. - Jeb Dunnuck
Soft grilled oak notes on the nose, this has the glamour of Clos Marsalette, beautifully expressed with a touch of bitter coffee on the finish that adds balance. Concentrated and intense, with 22hl/ha yield coming through in the depth of flavour, balanced by touches of eucalyptus and spice. 35% new oak. Tasted twice. - Jane Anson, Decanter
The 2020 Clos Marsalette opens with a blast of dark cherry fruit, smoke, gravel, licorice and incense. A big, broad wine Clos Marsalette offers tremendous intensity from start to finish. I imagine it will require at least a few years in bottle to fully come together as the tannins are pretty incisive at this stage. Even so, Clos Marsalette is a super-expressive Pessac Léognan with a good deal of potential.- Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
