Bright red-ruby. Wonderfully sappy scents of black cherry and boysenberry are considerably more expressive today than those of the 2016. Suave and spicy on the palate, showing compelling sweetness to its red and black fruit flavors. There's a hint of coffee here but none of the exotic qualities of the preceding 2015s. Finishes compellingly long, with chewy but refined tannins and a captivating combination of sweet and savory notes. With its uncanny freshness and energy, this wonderfully precise wine is likely to require as much aging as the Suchots. Stephen Tanzer – Vinous Media
Cask sample. Bright mid cherry red. Ripe, expressive cherry fruit and just a hint of stems (subtle dusty note). Chewy, compact and beautifully balanced between fruit and dry finesse. Long, dry finish. Needs lots of time. (JH) Jancis Robinson
