Sharp and tangy, though bright and clean with toasted elements that detracts a little from the fruit. A sense of fun and fruitiness though, clean and sharp, layered with creamy and mineral touches that give nuance and spark. Still a little charged, but there's good potential here, nicely fragrant and detailed, feels finessed but still packing a punch in terms of fruit density, forward motion and precision. 3.45pH. A complex and serene 2022 from barrel with blackberry, blue-fruit and oyster-shell aromas and flavors. Fine and chewy texture at the end. Fascinating already. - James Suckling

The 2022 Couhins-Lurton Rouge, 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, is aging in oak barrels, 50% of them new. Deep garnet-purple in color, it leaps from the glass with vibrant notes of redcurrant jelly, kirsch, and juicy black plums, plus wafts of wild sage, pencil shavings, and damp earth. The full-bodied palate delivers energetic black and red berry layers, framed by fine-grained yet firm tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long and minerally. pH 3.45. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent

Aromas of iris, violet, peony, black pepper, lilac and menthol preface the 2022 Couhins-Lurton, a strong effort in this vintage. Medium to full-bodied, layered and textured, with a fleshy texture as well as powdery tannins, it’s a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and appears to be an address in the ascendant. - Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate
