Tasting note: Here the nose offers a notable step up in aromatic refinement with its cool and airy yet notably serious mix of various red berries, earth, tea and floral nuances. There is fine volume and excellent richness to the mouth coating and relatively powerful medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a dusty, persistent and mildly austere finale that is more structured still. The tannins are dense but fine and this should amply reward 10 to 15 years of cellaring. Outstanding. –Allen Meadows, Burghound
Inviting soil-driven scents of redcurrant, red licorice and spices, with a touch of wildness. Fine-grained and suave but sappy too, with a dominant flavor of raspberries macerated in alcohol with spicy accents. Lovely finesse of texture owing to the long élevage. Finishes broad and dry, with substantial seamless tannins arriving late. The crop level here was an infinitesimal seven hectoliters per hectare. -- Stephen Tanzer, Vinous Media
