So much cool blue fruit and flowers here with minerals and subtle clove notes. Black licorice and black pepper, too. Medium body with very fine yet firm tannins. Focused and linear. Vibrant. The energy keeps going. 87% merlot, 8% cabernet sauvignon and 5% cabernet franc. From biodynamically grown grapes.- James Suckling

Beautifully rich and nuanced, ruby red in colour, silky texture with grilled almond and gunsmoke edge. This is excellent, softly gourmet, clear austerity but with crushed rock minerality. Juicy, powerful, sweet red fruits and lilting freshness.- Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux

The 2021 Croix de Labrie turned out well—better than I expected, actually. A burst of dark cherry, plum, incense, licorice, mocha, chocolate and new oak races across the palate. This has real depth, substance and character. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Including 5% each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc this year, the 2021 Croix de Labrie offers up aromas of dark berries, plums, red fruit compote, licorice and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, rich and velvety, it's a lively, rather muscular wine with a fleshy core of fruit, tangy acids and powdery tannins. It attained almost 14% alcohol and will see maturation in 80% new oak. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate

The 2021 Croix de Labrie has more fruit concentration that some of its peers on the nose, maybe needing some more clarity but nonetheless perfumed and floral. The palate is sweet on the entry with pliant tannins and fine depth, lightly spiced toward a finish that is just a tad too glossy for my preference, although a second bottle demonstrates more precision and refinement. It remains a success considering the vintage. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
