d'Angerville Volnay Fremiet 1er Cru 2017 (750ML)

The 2017 Volnay Fremiet 1er Cru has an expressive bouquet with veins of blue fruit that strafe the vibrant raspberry and crushed strawberry. Here there is fine mineralité tucked just underneath. The palate is vibrant, almost effervescent on the entry with blood orange infusing the red fruit, great tension and quite pointed tannin, a Fremiet that is bursting with life. Superb. Fine fresh mid purple, this has quite a discreet nose of dark red fruit yet with the suggestion of some power behind. Very little soil in top of the rock which somehow speaks as much of Pommard even though the rock is white limestone typical of Volnay. There is a succulence behind which is very engaging and with good depth too. Always a very early site. Tasted: November 2018.-Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

Bright crimson. Really very intriguing with depth and subtlety. The nose is positively heady. Really fresh palate attack with sweet but precisely etched fruit. Really rather gorgeous drive here.-Jancis Robinson
