Vinepair Best Champagnes of 2023
Based on the 2019 vintage, the Delamotte Brut NV is a blend of 60% Côte de Blancs Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 5 % Pinot Meunier fermented in stainless steel and disgorged in January 2023 with an eight gram per liter dosage. A light gold hue with a fine, persistent bead, it is bright and exuberant with fresh aromas of lemon sherbet, wet stones, white grapefruit, and chalk. The restrained, light to medium-bodied palate is finely textured with precise, citrus fruit intensity enlivened by vibrant acidity. Balanced and refreshing throughout. - Sarah Mayo, Wine Independent
This wine is a harmonious blend of the three major Champagne grapes, with Chardonnay acting as the structural backbone and the Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier adding great depth of fruit. It has an earthy nose that evokes the unctuous aroma of an artisan cheese shop with subtle hints of flaky baked pastry dough. The palate is powerful and refreshing, with lively acidity keeping everything balanced. - Vinepair
(50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier, with 7 g/l dosage): Bright straw. Vibrant aromas of lemon pith, pear skin and honeysuckle, with a chalky topnote. Dry, sharply focused lemon and lime flavors become deeper with air and pick up brioche and ginger nuances. Firm, chewy and dry, finishing with very good clarity and stony persistence. - Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media
A cleverly orchestrated reductive edge to the nose, this has a layer of toasted cashew ahead of citrus, peach, spice, fine cherry and raspberry fruits. The palate's nicely crafted to deliver an even and smooth impression. Red fruit flavors run long and smooth, with some fresh bread dough notes too; nicely yeasty to close. Drink now. - James Suckling
Well-knit and balanced, this sleek Champagne offers notes of fresh-cut apple, smoky mineral, biscuit and preserved lemon on the fine, lacy mousse. Drink now through 2018. - Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator
An expressive nose combines a variety of citrus elements along with lovely brioche and yeast scents. There is excellent punch to the delicious, complex and nicely voluminous flavors that are underpinned by a moderately firm mousse before terminating in a balanced and attractively dry finale. This is really quite good for a basic house brut and worth a look. - Allen Meadows, Burghound
Pillowy and charming, the latest rendition of Delamotte's NV Brut offers up attractive aromas of orchard fruit, fresh bread and citrus oil. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and elegant, with a pretty pinpoint mousse and lively balancing acids, it's drinking well out of the gates but will also develop gracefully for a few years in the cellar. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate
This is a crisp, textured wine with an emphasis on Chardonnay. That gives the Champagne delicacy, freshness as well as a tight edge of minerality. Drink this fine cuvée now. - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
Rather frothy-textured and delicate-flavoured. Easy wine to like. Good balance. - JancisRobinson .com
Delamotte has the same ownership and is made by the same chef de cave as Salon.
