Somewhere between classic and trendy in style this Pinot Noir is crafted to express more elegance than power in Bourgogne Rouge. It hails from Chassagne-Montrachet, a commune historically known for the quality of its red wines more than its whites up until the 1930’s. As white Burgundy picked up more market share and higher prices, many Pinot Noir vines in the commune were replaced by Chardonnay, leaving only a few prized red parcels known for their breed and character. Demougeot's Pinot Noir vines survived the trend and we have a glimpse of that history delivered by some of the commune's most senior Pinot Noir vines. Aged in 95% previously used French oak barrels (between 1-6 vintages of use) for 10-11 months. The first sulfite addition is made just before bottling and the wine is lightly filtered but not fined.
