The 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is reduced to three and a half barrels this year, half the normal crop. It has a complex nose with dark berry fruit, forest floor and pressed flowers, beautifully defined and gaining intensity in the glass. The palate is (again) supremely well balanced, quite peppery, with a silver bead of acidity. Darker fruit emerge towards the saline finish that is quite Mazoyères in style. Long tail on the finish. Divine.-Neal Martin, Vinous Media
The 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes is a beauty, bursting with aromas of plums and red berries mingled with violets, blood orange, sweet spices and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, ample and seamless, with a fleshy attack that segues into a layered, perfumed mid-palate, it's sensual and charming, built around melting tannins and succulent acids.-William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Three barrels only this year. Probably the lightest coloured Bachelet Charmes we have seen in a generation but none the worse for that. A medium density of strawberry and raspberry fruit on the nose. Kicks on charmingly and cheerfully at the back, fine fruit and lovely aromatics but could possibly use more intensity in the middle perhaps. Drink from 2027-2035. Tasted: November 2022.-Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
