A wonderful, delicious wine, with concentrated blackberry and plum fruit, plus notes of smoke and spice on the nose. The impression on the palate is one of intense concentration, but also of superb balance between the ripe fruit, structure and freshness. Gevrey les Corbeaux borders Les Mazis-Bas to the north, in a prime midslope position where Bachelet has 0.4ha, originally planted in 1920 and partially replanted in 1961. The fruit is destemmed and fermented with vigorous punching down before cask ageing (50% new).--Charles Curtis, MW, Decanter

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Corbeaux 1er Cru, matured in 50% new oak, has a complex bouquet with brambly red fruit, cranberry, sous-bois and iris flower scents that unfolds wonderfully in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy dark berry fruits that exert a gentle grip, structured and linear with a granular texture on the finish. Wonderful focus and sense of energy here. Superb.--Neal Martin, Vinous Media

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux is the finest rendition of this cuvée I've tasted chez Bachelet. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of blackberries and raspberries mingled with exotic spices, rose petals and orange rind, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with a deep core of fruit that's girdled by tangy acids and fine, powdery tannins.--William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

Rich black purple. For once there is if anything more intensity here than the village Gevrey. Usually it is a question of slightly more finesse without greater weight. More oak take up, more in red fruit. Soft sweet red fruit to finish. Tasted: December 2021.--Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
