Note: a monopole planted between 1945 and 1950
Tasting note: An overtly floral, spicy and strikingly elegant nose displays notes of black cherry, cassis and violet. The rich and velvety medium-bodied flavors possess a mouthfeel that is much like those of the Clos du Chapeau in that it's borderline creamy while delivering fine depth and length on the ever-so-mildly warm finale. This is at once refined yet entirely serious and at least some patience will be required. In a word, terrific. Outstanding. –Allen Meadows, Burghound
The 2015 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Clos de l'Arlot includes around 55% whole bunch fruit. It has a very well-defined bouquet with bright raspberry and cranberry leaf, gun flint and grey slate notes tucked in just behind. The whole bunch works well here and lends complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, slightly chalky tannin. Quite energetic in the mouth but very linear at the moment, this is a slightly more austere take on the finish, but you can feel the terroir tingling on the tongue long after the wine has departed. Classic in style, it should age well over the next couple of decades.—Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate
