This 2012 vintage is one of the best cuvées we’ve seen. It is a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Cinsault and 5% Carignan. While the Grenache naturally takes the lead with darker plum flavors, a nice spice blend joins the fruit and the Syrah adds a clear backbone of structure. It is fermented and aged in cement without any oak to interfere with the old vine concentrated fruit. It is medium bodied and silky with a light grip on the finish, which softens with air or with food. Think herbes de Provence marinated roast lamb.
