Note: from all three sectors of the vineyard
Tasting note: A deft application of wood sets off more deeply pitched aromas that include those of poached plum, black cherry and warm earth. The rich, vibrant and robust middle weight plus flavors possess both good richness and definition while displaying a subtle bead of minerality on the more structured and youthfully austere finale. This bold effort will require at least some patience. This is good stuff and very Grèves. Outstanding. –Allen Meadows, Burghound
Slightly lighter in colour than the Volnay. The nose is slightly reductive, making the fruit a little darker and more sombre, but the qualities of this vineyard show on the palate where there is surprising weight, just the right tannins, and impressive length. Tasted: October 2020—Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
Purchased as grapes from three different parcels, Lafon's 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves unwinds in the glass with aromas of plums, warm spices and toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy, it's more concentrated than the Vignes Franches, and more structured, too. This has fine potential –William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
