The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gain is showing nicely, mingling scents of peach and orange oil with hints of white flowers and honey in an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with a textural attack and a nicely structured core, it's long and chalky.—William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Tasting note: Here too there is a whiff of matchstick to the cool aromas of petrol, citrus rind and a variety of white fleshed fruit. The delicious, vibrant and well-detailed medium-bodied flavors possess a seductive texture before culminating in a super-saline, refreshing and sneaky long finish. This is also really quite good. Sweet spot. Outstanding. Allen Meadows. Burghound
Pale lemon in colour, with a discreet nose, showing a bit of coconut, backed by vigorous, energetic fruit behind. There follow on the palate various layers of fruit indicative of a wine, which is not pushing the limits of ripeness, with the right acidity. Fine boned rather than exuberant this year. Tasted: October 2020—Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
