Saturated black-garnet. Rich, broad and deep nose of fig, prune, dried blackberries and spice, with an overtone of schisty minerality. Voluptuous and rich, with all the depth of crème de cassis to match the still-firm, fine tannins. A beauty of a 1985, built to last. (TJ)20% Drink 2015-2050 Tim Jackson MW Feb/2021. Jancis Robinson
Aromas of walnuts, dried fruit and raisins. Surprisingly rich and powerful. Yet medium-bodied now. Concludes with a nutty finish. Beautiful. Drink now. - James Suckling, January 2017
A fine, classic Dow nose with notes of cloves, raisin and a touch of fig. Not incredibly complex but refined and inviting. The palate is sweet and fleshy, again cloves, red-berried fruit, a touch of spice and dates towards the finish. Moderate weight, certainly not and imposing, alcoholic Dow, but refined with great elegance and refinement. Drink now-2035 Tasted September 2007. - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate
