The 2014 Yquem has 146 grams per liter of residual sugar, 13.5 % alcohol, and a pH of 3.6, with a pale to medium straw-gold color. It begins with a single, pure, resonating note of orange blossom before unfurling to include provocative scents of aniseed, white pepper, allspice, and beach sand, followed by an intense core of lime cordial and green mango. Pow - the palate hits you like a crashing wave of vibrant citrus fruits and savory/spicy sparks, framed by the plushest of textures and a razor cut line of freshness, finishing with incredible length and vigor. This is a masterpiece. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent
A stunner, sporting tropical mango and papaya notes that glide along beautifully, while heather honey, pineapple chutney and toasted coconut flavors fill in through the finish. Delivers an amazing mouthfeel that is both creamy and intense, presenting a pretty inner floral brightness that contrasts with the fruit. Best from 2020 through 2045” — James Molesworth, 98 Points Wine Spectator
Very subtle Yquem on the nose with dried pineapple, lemons, green apples and hints of botrytis. The palate grabs you by the arms and shows you superb concentration of spices, dried fruit, phenolics and incredible energy. Nothing is like this from Sauternes this vintage! Drink whenever you like. Spellbinding. -James Suckling
The 2014 Yquem was picked over four tries from 5 September to 30 October, a nine-week picking with 25% of the crop brought in before 25 September to obtain freshness. It has beautifully defined on the nose with dried honey, white peach, almond and chamomile and saffron emerging with time. The palate is beautifully balanced with fine acidity, lively and energetic, building wonderfully in the mouth with great sapidity on the finish. What a bloomin’ gorgeous Yquem. Tasted at the château. -- Neal Martin, Vinous Media
Utterly great Yquem! My wine of the vintage – and the Decanter team’s top-scoring wine of 2014. A laser beam of acidity (3.6 pH) and lemony botrytis lifts and extends very pure aromas and sweet flavours (134g/l residual sugar) of tangerine, vanilla, pineapple and minerals. Less rich than the 2001 and '09, but purer and fresher. - Ian d'Agata, Decanter
Barrel Sample. Apricot tones with lively acidity give this rich wine a vein of freshness. Pear and white peach notes offer weight, while a lime backbone brings levity. There is a richness from the botrytis that is lifted by this wines delicious freshness. — Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
Bright gold with a green note. Intense freshness on the nose. Fabulous nose of richness and freshness. The residual sugar is not high but the balance is great. Lime and pears and great richness and almost like a fruit juice, it’s so refreshing yet dense and sweet.-Jancis Robinson
