Five new barrels in seven, with again a mix between whole bunch, pedicel, and destemmed fruit. A bright mid purple. Here the wood does not take the upper hand. The fruit seems just a little riper, while the palate offers a dark raspberry with plenty of white pepper, some wood tannins, but the concentration of the fruit is adequate to match. Drink from 2028-2036.-Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
The 2021 Echézeaux Grand Cru, which was protected by the frost with candles, hence there are seven barrels this year compared to the five barrels of the previous year. Red and black fruit on the nose, graphite coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins. The partial whole clusters lend a discrete pepperiness, very nicely focused with sour cherry and clove towards quite a structured finish that will require time to absorb the new oak. Quite serious. Patience required.-Neal Martin, Vinous Media
Tasting note: A ripe and extremely fresh nose mixes notes of violet, plum and anise with those of dark pinot fruit and sandalwood. The medium weight plus flavors possess a positively gorgeous texture as it's highly seductive while delivering excellent length on the impeccably well-balanced finale. This could use better depth, but the underlying material appears to be up to the take. In a word, lovely.--Allen Meadows, Burghound
