The 2016 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Reignots includes 20% whole-bunch fruit and is raised entirely in new oak. It has a well-defined bouquet that soaks up that new oak nicely: ample red berry fruit, a touch of crushed violet and a hint of blood orange develops in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, ripe tannin, a fine bead of acidity, fresh and harmonious with fine density and concentration on the finish. Tasting note: A pungent nose is presently composed of wood toast and reduction. Otherwise there is excellent richness and volume to the relatively full-bodied flavors that also possess a velvety mouthfeel along with plenty of minerality that also suffuses the sappy, complex and lingering finish where the only nit is a hint of warmth. This should be another wine that will drink well young but age well too over the medium-term. Outstanding/ Drink 2026+. –Allen Medows, Burghound
