From light, well-draining limestone soils, the 2010 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is a beautiful expression with loads of finesse and intensity. This is my favorite of the flight thanks to the great sense of varietal character. Balsam herb, ginger, medicinal herb, blue flower and spice find seamless integration. Drink: 2017-2035. Crushed aromatic herb, rose and red berry aromas take shape in the glass. The bright, structured palate is still very young, showing tart red cherry, chopped mint and cinnamon accompanied by firm tannins and vibrant acidity. A mineral note signals the close.
