The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1Er Cru Combe Aux Moines was another barrel sample that was showing a little reduction, although it soon brushes that away with fleshy red cherry, strawberry and tinned apricot aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, a killer line of acidity, fresh and vibrant with superb mineralité towards the energetic finish. This has great potential.—Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate
Tasting note: (opened from personal storage). A cool and fresh nose exhibits maturing notes of black cherry, raspberry, violet and plum along with plenty of earth and game nuances. There is excellent size, weight, power and punch to the middle weight plus flavors that culminate in a driving, muscular, complex and attractively long finish. This presently moderately austere effort is a classic CAM that is drinking sufficiently well to be enjoyable now though I will holding my remaining bottles for another 4 to 7 years. Lovely. Drink 2026+. Allen Meadows, Burghound
