Pale lemon and lime in colour. The difference in bouquet compared to the village Chassagne is a slight additional muscularity in bouquet. There is finesse too for this soil. One plot 50+ years old, the other 2003. A little fresh lime at the finish after pure white fruit. Tasted: November 2021.—Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
Tasting note: Subtle but not invisible wood influence can be found on the ripe aromas of pear, apple and various citrus nuances. The dense and relatively powerful medium-bodied flavors possess a beguiling texture before ending in a moderately dry and lemony finish. This isn't an elegant wine, indeed Macherelles rarely is, but I like the frank character.—Allen Meadows, Burghound
