‘San Lorenzo’ is located in Verduno, facing south at a slightly lower altitude, between 720 and 880 feet above sea level. Here the mineral influence of the “marne di Sant’Agata” comes through, with more precise floral aromas and a more linear, yet deeply elegant, profile.-Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate
Expressive and silky in texture, with fragrant rose, cherry, raspberry, anise and mineral scents. Offering a subtle, underlying oak detail, this red is all about harmony and finesse, showing superb balance through to the lingering finish. Best from 2026 through 2045. 420 cases made, 150 cases imported.-Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator
The 2019 Barolo San Lorenzo di Verduno, tasted from barrel, is another potent wine from Alessandria. Heady and explosive, the 2019 possesses tremendous energy and drive from start to finish. Dark red fruit, gravel, incense, scorched earth, rose petal, licorice and iron are some of the many notes that race out of the glass. The 2019 is wild and racy, sort of like a misbehaved child, but in the best sense! I can't wait to see how it turns out.-Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
Aromas of red berries, dried blood orange, cloves, walnut and moist bark. Full-bodied and layered with compact tannins that are finely grained and velvety. Long and wide on the palate with a firm and slightly tight finish. Better from 2027.-James Suckling
There is a fresh mineral character in the 2019 Barolo San Lorenzo Di Verduno with wet asphalt, red cherry, orange, and clove. It is medium-bodied but takes on more structure and concentration, with ripe, fine tannins, dusty earth, and cranberry cocktail, and long with citrus on the finish. A nervy wine, it will benefit from another couple of years in bottle and drink well 2026-2040. -Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck
Camphor, wild rose, ripe berry and new leather are just some of the aromas that you’ll find on Fratelli Alessandria’s fragrant 2019 San Lorenzo di Verduno. Full-bodied and buffed to a smooth sheen, the juicy, chewy palate doles out fleshy black cherry, crushed mint and licorice framed in tightly knit, velvety tannins. You’ll also detect the subtle warmth of alcohol on the finish, but the fruit richness easily supports it. Drink 2026–2034. Abv: 15% Kerin O’Keefe
Verduno. Lustrous mid ruby. More depth on the nose than the straight Verduno from the same vintage and with layered complexity. Ripe and yet fresh, with plenty of succulent cherry on the palate and lots of attractive, chewy tannins. Great depth of fruit on the finish.-Walter Speller, JancisRobinson
