#3 Wine Independent Champagne Over $100 2024
Light gold with persistent fine bubbles, the Gaston Chiquet Blanc de Blanc d’Ay Grand Cru 2014 is a stainless steel fermented cuvée aged eight plus years on fine lees and finished with a six grams per liter dosage. Aromatically expressive, it unfurls with rich aromas of lemon confit, fresh brioche, vanilla cream wafers, manuka honey, and dried orange peel. The medium-bodied palate fills with an exuberant, textured mousse that has a lovely satiny acid tension and finesse. It lingers long on the palate. - Sarah Mayo, Wine Independent
The 2014 Champagne Grand Cru Blanc De Blancs D'Ay Millésime Brut pours a bright yellow/golden color and delivers aromas of salted pineapples, candied ginger, lemon curd, and wet stone. It’s powerful on the palate, with mineral drive, a refined, silky texture, and a nicely detailed and compact feel with an elegant pinpoint mousse. It offers a lovely balance of ripeness and finesse and is a highly appealing wine to enjoy over the next 15 years.-Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck
Blended exclusively from white (Chardonnay) grapes grown in an area known for red grapes, only bottled in Magnum!
An aperitif Champagne for special occasions: fruity with citrus and honey notes.
Delicate and balanced. Long finish.
