90% new wood and 40% whole bunch From the Quartier de Nuits, “the missing corner of the Clos de Vougeot” suggests Pascal Mugneret. Gorgeous heady bouquet with a lifted ethereal aspect, backed by solidly ripe dark red fruit. Complex and still dainty. Great result! Jasper Morris – Inside Burgundy
The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru contains 90% whole cluster, and that shows through on the nose, which actually reminds me of a Dujac. It is well defined with cracked black pepper and touches of brine - the one cru from Mugneret sporting a distinctive marine influence. The palate is medium-bodied with quite thick tannins on the entry. An ambitious, dense Echézeaux with grip and girth toward the finish. It deserves five or six years just to soften its edges. Neal Martin – Vinous Media
Note: from Les Quartiers de Nuits
Tasting note: This is the first wine to display any appreciable reduction and it presently flattens the underlying fruit. Otherwise there is a really lovely texture to the medium weight plus flavors thanks to the abundance of mid-palate sap that coats the mouth and buffers the moderately firm, complex and lingering finish. This muscular and very serious effort is shaped by a very firm tannic spine that signals clearly this will need time. Allen Meadows - Burghound
