Lively and exuberant, with forward plummy fruit plus a suggestion of wild herbs and earth. The texture is supple and approachable, this is to be enjoyed (with gusto) in its youth. Pascal Mugneret's Pourpre is similar to a Gamay-heavy Passetoutgrain. The ancient vines (40% Pinot Noir, 60% Gamay) are spread over 0.7ha in Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Echézeaux. The wine is fermented entirely as whole clusters and without sulphur until bottling.-Charles Curtis, MW, Decanter
60% Gamay, 40% Pinot Noir; Bourgogne Passetoutgrains declassified as Vin de France. 100% whole clusters; 20 mg/l total SO2. Generous yield for 2020 of 35 hl/ha. Cask sample.
Defying my prejudice against Passetoutgrains, this is indeed purple. Deeply coloured and thick with red- and black-berry fruit. All rather joyous and unpretentious. A delicious glass of vin de soif. Could be VGV. -Matthew Hayes, Jancis Robinson
