Olive tapenade, licorice, smoked herbs and plenty of peppery black fruits emerge from the 2014 Columbia Valley Syrah, and it's medium to full-bodied, rich, concentrated and beautifully textured. It's another smoking wine from this estate that has real character and depth.
Under the leadership of Greg Harrington and Brandon Moss, Gramercy Cellars is unquestionably in the top handful of producers in Washington State. While they started out mostly Syrah/Rhône based, they’ve since added several Bordeaux blends that are world class. - Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate
(13.9% alcohol): Moderately saturated bright red-ruby. Slightly musky aromas of blackberry, blueberry, licorice, menthol and black pepper, with a whiff of game. Dense and juicy, with harmonious acidity giving shape and lift to its dark berry, pepper and violet flavors. Not a particularly fleshy or sweet wine but offers lovely inner-mouth perfume and saline minerality. Finishes with a fine dusting of tannins and subtle length. Suave Syrah, not at all overdone--and much more polite than the 2013 version at the same stage. I like this.
