Lovely, with a stream of raspberry confiture flowing through, while light mint, star anise and black tea notes weave in and out. The long and refined finish has a light mineral accent, while the fruit sails on. This is quietly one of the best second wines in Bordeaux. A visit to Vieux Chateau Certan is always one of the highlights of the annual En Primeur tour. 2014 Gravette de Certan is not sold En Primeur, however, we got a special sneak peak of it this week, and it holds many of the trademark characteristics of the famed first wine. It has lovely sweet fruit reminiscent of VCC but with a slight earth dusty character reflective of the Pomerol terroir.
