A real burst of fresh apricot and peach, lemon verbena and green tea. This has the salt and power of Château-Grillet, the confit lemon peel on the finish, the salted nuts. Very full-bodied indeed, very rounded and long, but not massive, more spherical. You sense the alcohol, but it’s not unbalanced. 4,500 bottles produced. - Matt Walls, Decanter
The 2019 Château-Grillet is the first vintage under the helm of Jaeok Chu Cramette. Dazzling and flamboyant, its pungent perfume is reminiscent of apricot and peach compote mingling with layers of honey. Ripe guava, lychee, pineapple and mango add a distinctively tropical twist. Stylistically, the 2019 Château-Grillet couldn’t be more different from the less flashy and more nuanced 2020, 2021 and 2022 renditions. The main reason circles back not only to the amount of heat and sunlight during the growing season, but also to the comparatively late harvest between the 9th and 14th of September. Viscously textured, powerful and concentrated, the 2019 Château-Grillet closes with a touch of heat on the eccentric finale. - Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous Media
Honeycomb, juicy peaches, and poached pears notes jump from the nose of the 2019 Château Grillet, followed by hints of white pepper and marzipan. The rich, seductive, full-bodied palate delivers a decadently creamy texture with spicy sparks emerging from the orchard fruit flavors, finishing with great length.-Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent
This is currently in a slightly awkward stage between youthful effusiveness and mature complexity. Very powerful with full apricot fruit plus a touch of dried apricot, but this wine has excellent tension on the ample yet focused palate. Plenty of white tea character at the long, textural and stony finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. - James Suckling
Has some pineapple and chamomile aromas with a lemon-balm note. Lovely rounded attack, which is tight and amazingly well proportioned. Not overpowering in the mouth, but densely concentrated – not oily and shows good freshness. A savoury note with nuts and almonds towards the finish. Really lovely balanced example. Amazing in its youth and looking like it will age superbly.-Alistair Cooper MW, JancisRobinson
