The Haut Brion is open and very pretty, with sliced lemon, pear and white-peach character, as well as a hint of lemon grass. It’s full and layered with structure and focus. Crunchy finish. Fine phenolics and vibrant fruit for the vintage. 58.1% sauvignon blanc and 41.9% semillon. - James Suckling
A blend of 58.1% Sauvignon Blanc and 41.9% Semillon, the white 2023 Haut-Brion has a pH of 3.2. It is incredibly closed to start, needing a lot of shaking to bring out fragrant notes of fresh pears, lime leaves, coriander seed, and crushed stones, soon opening out to fragrant scents of lemongrass and honeysuckle, with a touch of baking bread. The medium-bodied palate vibrates with energetic citrus flavors, with a satiny/chalky texture and a racy backbone, finishing with amazing length and depth. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent
Slightly herbal grassy green apple notes on the nose, a little less demonstrative again than LMHB at this point. Instantly more weight on the palate, really has more fat and texture, a little oily even in terms of the density. Less apparent acidity, a touch more sombre, more on the bitterness side to give an angle and contrast to the fruit which adds body and structure in that way. Still lively, no doubt, lemon and grapefruit, clean with hints of spice on the finish. A fantastic white in 2023 and will be nice to compare it to its sister white in bottle. 3.2pH. - Georgina Hindle, Decanter
The 2023 Château Haut-Brion Blanc includes slightly more Semillon than the La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc and is 58.1% Sauvignon and 41.9% Semillon. It's a slightly more inward, reserved white with white currants, green herbs, bright citrus, and sappy flower-like aromatics that take some coaxing. These carry to a medium-bodied white that has a bright, refreshing, racy style and plenty of mid-palate density and depth. It's an ever-so-slightly richer, more concentrated wine than the La Mission Haut-Brion - Jeb Dunnuck
The 2023 Haut-Brion Blanc is a quiet, restrained white. Pear, mint, white pepper and crushed rocks are all beautifully sketched, its mineral character emerging with time. The 2023 is not an obvious wine, initially quite aromatic but less expressive on the palate. The long, sustained finish takes things to another level. Complex and dynamic, the 2023 grows over time, hinting at an exceptionally brilliant future. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
