Blackberry and blueberry with some stone and black-olive character. Medium-to full-bodied with firm, silky tannins and a fresh finish. Linear and polished. Best for a while. - James Suckling

The 2020 Maillet has a deep purple-black color and wonderfully pure notions of ripe black plums, wild blueberries and black cherries, plus hints of cedar chest, spice box and red roses with a waft of underbrush. Lots of sappy spring flowers, violets, blueberries, black cherries, and damp earth notes emerge from the 2020 Château Haut-Maillet, and it's medium-bodied, with a nicely textured, straight, focused mouthfeel, present tannins, and a good finish.
