Tight-grained, with an immediate impression of the sea before forest floor and citrus notes take over. This is bright and fresh, with plenty of spice, toast and candied berry flavors, backed by a firm structure. The finish just keeps going. Best from 2012 through 2040. 1,000 cases imported. Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator
Bright gold with a steady flow of pinpoint bubbles. A highly expressive bouquet displays scents of orange zest, ripe pear, smoky lees, brioche and anise, with suave floral and botanical herb qualities gaining strength with aeration. Lush, creamy orchard and citrus flavors are complicated by notes of toasted grain, herbs and candied flowers, with a strong spicecake quality emerging on the back end. Manages to be both rich and energetic, and finishes with strong smokiness and sweet persistence. This is drinkable now but destined for a long life.
