Todd Alexander was very smart when he crafted the 2021 Holocene Pinot Noirs because he decided to use 100% whole cluster during fermentation which ended up being a very good thing. These wines need that added stem earthiness, structure, and tannins, as most 2021s are incredibly light with very light tannins. Notes of dark cherry, dried cedary herbs, and spiced red plum pop from the glass. It sports crunchy tannins, a full mouthfeel, and perfect levels of acidity. Just 260 cases made. Highly recommended.-International Wine Report
The 2021 Pinot Noir Memorialis is more complete and layered, with beautiful ripe cherry and redcurrant fruit as well as spice box, dried, smoky herbs, and savory flower-like aromas and flavors. Textured, medium to full-bodied, and balanced, it has the fruit and texture to shine even today yet the density and structure to evolve for 10-12 years as well.-Jeb Dunnuck
The 2021 Pinot Noir Memorialis is impossible to ignore, with a dusty blend of raspberry, violets, underbrush and sweet spice. It's round with a pleasant inner sweetness up front as a wave of juicy acidity enlivens its crisp red fruits. This balances power with finesse, leaving a staining of cherry-berry fruits contrasted by a chalky mineral-tinged tannin coating. -- Eric Guido, Vinous Media
Supple and savory, with elegantly multilayered raspberry and guava flavors laced with forest floor, rose petal and dusky spice notes, this builds tension toward refined tannins. Drink now through 2032. 250 cases made.-Tim Fish, Wine Spectator
Pale ruby in colour. Quiet on the nose with a gravel rockiness, raspberry and tart red cherry. The palate is bursting with red fruits and high, tingly acidity. The Memorialis doesn't have the herbal flavours of the Apocrypha – instead, it is spicier and stonier with a lingering flavour of cola on the finish.-Samantha Cole-Johnson, JancisRobinson
