Fine pink to ruby colour. A beautiful bouquet, floral, and with a fine fresh raspberry fruit. A surprising intensity of very pure red fruit, just a slight youthful bitterness, a touch of orange rind, complex and satisfying. Beautifully poised on the palate, even with sucrosity, superb texture from pressed vines. Drink from 2025-2028. Tasted: November 2023.--Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
Aromas of plums, raspberries, orange zest and cinnamon introduce the 2021 Santenay Clos des Hâtes, a medium to full-bodied, deep and structured wine framed by powdery structuring tannins. If the Chassagne-Montrachet La Goujonne is more immediate, this will reward a little patience.--William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Note: from a .67 ha parcel of young vines planted in 1999 on riparia rootstock that produce very tiny berries
Tasting note: A more deeply pitched nose of plum and various dark berries displays more pepper and earth influences. The rich, delicious and attractively textured medium weight flavors exude a bright minerality that adds a sense of lift to the youthfully austere, firmer and youthfully austere finale. This is a very good Santenay villages and worth checking out. Outstanding.--Allen Meadows, Burghound
The 2021 Santenay Clos des Hâtes oers dark cherry and blackcurrant on the nose, quite floral with wilted iris flowers. The palate is slightly chalky in texture and saline in the mouth with a gritty, black, olive-tinged finish. Fine.-Neal Martin, Vinous Media
