An assemblage of 2010/09/08 with pristine chalky and stony elements, lemon and lime citrus, dried yellow flowers and a gentle nutmeg-tinged spice overlay. Energetic palate with powerful and seamless lemon and peach fruits, minerals grow through the saline, acid-drenched finish. Drink now. - James Suckling

The NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Initial is absolutely impeccable. Its hard to know where to start. What is more impressive: the definition of aromas and flavors, or is it the wines sublime texture? The Initial is remarkable for its nuance, clarity and overall sense of harmony. The mousse is impeccably fine from start to finish, while the expression of Chardonnay is all elegance. Juicy apricots, peaches, flowers, crushed rocks and spices meld together on the seamless, utterly impeccable finish. Initial is Selosses largest production cuvee and is a blend of fruit from Avize, Cramant and Oger, all Grand Cru villages. Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Abundantly aromatic, featuring honeysuckle, graphite and star anise notes, this is a mouthwatering version for fans of rich, toasty wines. Lime-laced acidity provides a vibrant backbone for the layers of nectarine, grilled nut, mandarin orange peel, saffron and toasted brioche flavors, creating beautiful balance. Long and expressive on the finely detailed finish. Disgorged September 2018. Drink now through 2027. From France.—A.N, Wine Spectator

Disgorged in April 2011, this bottle of Selosse's NV Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Initial derives from the 2002, 2003 and 2004 vintages, and it's drinking beautifully today, bursting with notes of dried orange, honeycomb, buttered peaches, white flowers and mandarin, Selosse remarking that when the year delivers botrytis, he embraces it—providing it's clean. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, broad and sapid, with considerable depth at the core and a long, elegantly dry and discretely exotic finish. This is drinking very well and readers fortunate enough to have any bottles in their cellars shouldn't hesitate to open them. (04/2011 Disgorgement) - William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Bright, with a nose of graphite, pastry dough and spring blossom leading to flavors of white peach, toasted almond, fleur de sel and lemon curd. Disgorged May 2016. Drink now through 2022. - Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator
