En Remilly sits on the bottom of the spur with Les Combes au Sud facing it on the other side of the east-west valley. Above it to the north is the Les Murgers des Dents de Chien vineyard with a similar aspect.
En Remilly has similar soils to Montrachet and Chevalier-Montrachet (just a stone's throw east) with a pebbly, calcareous topsoil that drains water easily and freely. This encourages deep root growth into the limestone as vines search for water, ultimately resulting in minerally, flinty characters in En Remilly wines. While clearly less famous and revered as those from Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, En Remilly wines are nonetheless highly regarded by those familiar with the region.
Many famed producers like Pierre Yves Colin Morey, Ramonet, and Lamy have crafted extraordinary examples of en Remilly since the raw materials from this excellent vineyard produce wine every bit as good as many of the best wines from Puligny and Chassagne.
Beautiful aromas of ripe mini banana and candied pineapple, but also a serious structure behind the richness. The acidity is beneath the waterline, but it carries all this abundance very well. Long, silky finish. Drink or hold.--James Suckling
