The 2017 Chablis Les Sechets 1er Cru is gorgeous. Apricot, hazelnut, crushed flowers and herbs give the Sechets a savory character that is beguiling and undeniably attractive. Light on its feet, perfumed and nuanced, the 2017 offers lovely precision in an understated style that speaks to finesse more than anything else. Tasting note: I very much like the freshness of the citrus and green apple-scented nose that displays background notes of matchstick character, algae and oyster shell. The mouth feel of the medium-bodied flavors is at once caressing yet reasonably precise with good punch and minerality that carries over to the clean, bone dry and lemon-inflected finish.
